Youth Pentathlon Competitions

As part of England Darts commitment to giving the youth players of England more opportunities to develop their skills and gain more experience, we are pleased to announce that a separate girls and boys Pentathlon competitions will be played on Saturday 7th December 2019.

We believe that it will be the first ever girls pentathlon event and the first boys event for several decades and as such will be exciting for the youngsters invited into the respective competitions, to hone their skills in the pentathlon format.

The youth pentathlons will be run along the lines of the ladies and men's pentathlons, which are run by England Darts at the respective Selsey Festivals. Whilst the senior pentathlons are open to twenty invited players, these youth pentathlons will be restricted to ten players in both the girls and boys. The points system used will be the same as the seniors, so in addition to each player playing the other nine players in two legs of 501, they will also play the 'special games' of 1001, 2001, Round the Board on Doubles, Shanghi and Halve-It. (Full details can be found by clicking on the Pentathlon Page, including the scoring system).

We are very pleased to welcome the New Trinity Club in Hull as the host of both the youth pentathlons, the club is already the host venue for the Humberside Youth teams and we would like to thank Carl South for his support in staging this unique day of darts for the invited youth players.

As a reward for their commitment to the England Darts system both the youth pentathlons will be competed by the top eight players in the respective England Youth rankings, plus one player as invited by England Darts and finally one player chosen by Carl and his team at the New Trinity Club.

As well as equal numbers of players, playing the same format we are also pleased to announce that a total of £1,480 will be equally split between the girls and boys competitions on the day. If anyone would like to add to the prize fund with some sponsorship, please contact bradley.kirk@englanddarts.co.uk

For anyone that wants to come along on 7th December to the New Trinity Club, we are pleased to confirm that entrance is free as we want as many people as possible to be there to support the youths, anyone who is a competent marker can also volunteer to help out on the day, it will be a great place to watch the undoubted skills of the players we hope will go onto being top players for many years to come.

As the players are confirmed and announced their photos and profiles will appear here, scroll down to see the players.

Introducing your 2019 Youth Pentathlon Participants!

Next up in the Boys Pentathlon is current George Lynch. The ferocious thrower who is a relative newcomer to the England Grand Prix circuit has had a consistent season resulting in him being 2nd seed for the GP Grand Finals later this month after finishing second in the Overall Grand Prix Tables. With these results it has also earned George a place in the 2019 Youth Flagship events the Boys Matchplay, GP Grand Finals as well as the England Boys Pentathlon.

A successful year which has seen George qualify from the Group Stages at every Youth Grand Prix Event that he’s participated in, which has seen 6 quarter finals in very consistent performances, but his highlight of the season was in Derbyshire in April where he reached the semi-finals. George will be desperate to convert these consistent performances into finals and titles in the near future and with his recent ferocious 170 Check Out on stream at the JDC World Championships shows this could be happening in the near future!

Good luck to George at the Pentathlon!

Next up in the Boys Pentathlon is Tavis Dudeney. One of the main threats on the Youth Grand Prix Circuit, Tavis has accrued an impressive CV of results in recent times, which has seen him stay in the top 3 of the England Youth Rankings for a significant amount of time, and is currently Number 2 in the England Boys Rankings. Tavis won the 2018 London Grand Prix Event with a win over Mitchell McCarthy in the final, and was runner up in the 2019 Hertfordshire Grand Prix Event losing to Brad Phillips in the final.

Winner of a JDC Tour Event in 2018, Tavis has also been very successful in other events at Youth Level, winning the Southern Youth Singles and Pairs Titles, he has also picked up the winners cheque at the South of England Open and 5 titles at the Mill Rythe Festival of Darts, with 3 at Under 14 level and 2 at Under 18 level. This prolific record at tournaments has helped him get selected for the Sussex Seniors County team last month winning his debut match.

His impressive record makes him a very likely candidate to be the first winner of the England Boys Pentathlon Title.

Good luck to Tavis at the Pentathlon!

Next up in the Boys Pentathlon is Nathan Potter. An important part of the Norfolk Senior County team since the age of 13, and currently playing for the Suffolk Youth County team. Nathans consistent performances have seen him reach the latter stages at events during the BDO Festival of Darts, including reaching the semi-final of the Under 18 Challenge Tour and the final of the 2019 British Teenage Championships. With his consistency Nathan has risen in the England Boys Rankings and currently sits comfortably in 4th position, with the chance to rise to 3rd in the near future.

Nathan will go into the event as one of the favourites based on his recent form and we wish him luck.
