2017 Mens Pentathlon
The 2017 Men's British Pentathlon is being played
on Thursday 7th September at the start of the England Classic weekend at Bunn
Leisure, Selsey. It is the 42nd staging of the event and the first under
the EDO banner, following on from the successful running of the Ladies
Pentathlon at the 2017 England Open that was won by Deta Hedman.
7th September
- Martin Adams is 2017 British Pentathlon
Champion

The 2017 Pentathlon saw ten
players made their debuts but it was the most experienced player, Martin
Adams once again took the title on 410 points which was 12 points ahead of
Willem Mandigers, with third place going to Jim Williams. It is Martin's
12th title in his 25th appearance at the Pentathlon
In the special events
the 2001 leg was won by Willem Mandigers, the halve it was won by Paul
Dawkins and the Round the board on doubles was won by Jay Foreman, the
1001 leg was jointly won by Paul Dawkins and Conan Whitehead and the shanghi
was won by Andy Baetens.
Jamie Hughes equalled the all
time record points scored in a two leg match when he scored 25 points.

2017 Ladies Pentathlon
The 2017 Ladies Pentathlon was the first to be run by the
England Darts Organisation, it was played at Bunn Leisure Selsey and the winner
was Deta Hedman, it was Deta's fourth Pentathlon title having also won in 2010,
2013 & 2014.

The Ladies Pentathlon was played
at Bunn
Leisure, Selsey and the final scores are below.

BRITISH PENTATHLON
(Formation and History)
The British Pentathlon was the brainchild of England President, Sam Hawkins
(pictured on the left) who as a founder member of the Kent Darts Organisation (KDO),
ran the first ever Pentathlon in 1976 and it continued under Sam's stewardship
right up until the 41st anniversary in 2016. A separate Ladies event was started
in 2004
However Sam and the KDO decided that it was time to pass the unique Pentathlon
events over to someone else and the England Darts Organisation are honoured to
have been entrusted with taking the events on and will now be played at Bunn
Leisure, Selsey as part of the two established EDO events. The Ladies Pentathlon
will be played on Thursday 15th June as the first event of the 2017 England Open
festival. The Mens Pentathlon will be played on Thursday 7th September at the
start of the 2017 England Classic festival.
For those that have not heard or seen the Pentathlon before it is an
invitational only event that is played between just 20 players and as well as
the traditional 501 legs, it also features one game of 1001 and one game of
2001. There is also the 'special games' of Shanghi, Halve-it and Round the Board
on Doubles (RBD). All the 'special games' have an additional prize for their
winners on top of prize money for the top four players overall.
The big difference in the Pentathlon is that the overall positions are decided
on a points basis, where every single thrown can score points for the player.
Each of the 20 players play all the other players in two legs of 501, to see the
full points system go to the points scoring at the bottom of the page. To see an
explanation of all the rules see below.
