2019 ENGLAND YOUTH GRAND PRIX DETAILS
Following the success of the inaugural England Youth Grand Prix in 2018, we are happy to announce that the 2019 England Youth Grand Prix of Darts will be expanding with 6 additional tournaments spread more evenly across the Country to give the young players more opportunities in 2019, with over £4,000 in prize money available.
There have been a few changes in the rules, including no lower age limit to players providing they can retrieve their own darts and can chalk a game of darts, while the upper age limit is now anyone under the age of 18 on January 1st 2019 can play the whole season and a dress code will be in place for all events. While the girls prize will now be awarded to the Winner of the respective Girls Play-off.
The major change will come in the terms of Regional Tables, for the Grand Finals the overall rankings will provide the top 10 from the main table and top 5 for the girls table, leaving spaces for the Regional Tables. We have divided the Country into three regions (North, Midlands and South), each player will be allocated their region based on their County youth team or if they don't play County youth darts by where they live. There are three of four events in each regional table and only players based in those regions can gain points for the regional tables, but they are still open to all players regardless. Two boys and one girl from each region not already qualified based on the regional tables will qualify for the Grand Finals.

DETAILS OF THE 'PokerStars' 2019 ISLE OF MAN DARTS INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL NOW CONFIRMED
7th to 10th March 2019
On behalf of the EDO, I am delighted, albeit belatedly, to announce that following a very lengthy and detailed tendering process that they have won the rights to organise the IOM Darts Festival, and for at least, the next three years!
If i may, I would like to take this opportunity to first apologise to everyone for these unforeseen delays, but a legal caveat in the process prevents all interested parties making any statement until it's run its course, which obviously it has now.
I point this out, to explain and hopefully appease the scores of people who have emailed, sent messages or phoned the EDO officials or I requesting festival details or wishing to book as to why we simply haven't been able to share anything.
After speaking to representatives in the IOM tourism industry over the last 48 hours though, who obviously are people we work very closely with, thankfully the lack of info or news doesn't seem to have deterred people from booking, and though not an exact science, it appears with following their comments, around 200 have already secured the hotel of their choice, which is great.
Obviously we can't guarantee 30 degree sunshine, in fact, in March it's more likely to be slooshing down half the time, and clearly you would be viewed as a right nut case were you to even consider snorkelling in the sea, but at the IOM Darts Festival, the biggest and longest running festival of it's kind in the world, no one really cares.
Every year, darting dsciples and their supporters, (some of whom never even play darts) descend on Douglas and the peerless Villa Marina who host the festival and do so just to be part of this iconic festival and they arrive in their hundreds !
Scores of small groups, pub dart teams, boys (and definitely the girls) from all over the UK and Europe, make either the short flight over which takes 30/40 minutes (or slightly longer ferry!) just to be part of it.
The IOM Festival is not just a darts event, in fact it's so much more than that, it's an occasion. In March the IOM becomes just the place to be and in truth it has been for over three decades, it is even whispered, some even pop over just for a couple of beers or two ...... who would have thought ?
The atmosphere throughout the few days is electric and more so, as the photo's show, at the Grand finals over 500 throw themselves into the spirit of this great darts festival.

True it does have rather a lot of prize money (well over £30,000) and true again, 2019 will again see a record payout and though many other events will hold CAT 'C' and or CAT 'D' ranking events, at the IOM, most are either CAT 'A+' or CAT 'B', which simply doesn't happen often. Thankfully it does though when the EDO put on tournaments! But equally there are events for everyone, including youth, mixed groups and men's and ladies doubles which alone pay out nearly £2,000 and £1,500 respectively...... so what's not to like ?
Lastly the one thing we would suggest to all travellers, is that you book up your flights, as soon as you can, because unlike the hotels (and ferry costs) which stay as advertised, now everything has been confirmed, they will I promise you, quickly begin to increase.
All that remains to say is that again, we look forward to seeing you all, old friends and new, in March, and if anyone has any questions whatsoever, just ask away, as now we can actually answer them!
Howard Miller
, and hopefully it will be fully updated in the next 24 hours including numerous hotel offers and travel packages to suit all budgets.29th October
It is deep regret that we have learned today that former England Ladies Captain, Paddy Reeson has passed away.
Paddy was the non-playing Captain of the team for eight years, before she handed the role over to Trina Gulliver, Paddy was a Cambridgeshire County player and played locally in Peterborough for over fifty years, she won the Ladies Pairs title in Jersey with fellow Cambridgeshire and England player Nadine Bentley and also reached the semi finals of the Winmau World Masters.
Our thoughts are with her daughter Tina and the family.

The 2018 British Pentathlon was played today at Bunn Leisure, Selsey and is the first event of the England Classic Weekend.
For those that have not seen the Pentathlon before it is an invitational only event that is played between just 20 players and as well as the traditional 501 legs, it also features one game of 1001 and one game of 2001. There is also the 'special games' of Shanghi, Halve-it and Round the Board on Doubles (RBD). All the 'special games' have an additional prize for their winners on top of prize money for the top four players overall.
The big difference in the Pentathlon is that the overall positions are decided on a points basis, where every single thrown can score points for the player.

RIP TONY SONTAG
We are very sad to learn that former England International, Tony Sontag passed away yesterday. Tony was a London County player who played five ties for England and won four of his matches. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

We would like to congratulate the England Youth team on a very successful 2018 Europe Cup in Turkey.
The girls team of Beau Greaves and Shannon Reeves are the 2018 Europe Cup Girls Champions and they had a clean sweep as Beau Greaves won the girls singles and Beau and Shannon also won the girls pairs to mean all three gold medals will be coming back to England.
The boys also return home with a good collection of medals as they took silver in the team event, Jack Vincent got a bronze in the boy singles which meant they finished third overall in the boys championship and so all have a bronze medal. Netherlands took the overall title ahead of the Republic of Ireland.
