RIP KAREN CARR
We were sorry to pass on the sad news that Karen passed away earlier today, Karen played County darts for Nottinghamshire in two spells, but also played for Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. From when the records started to be be digitally recorded in 1996, Karen had played a total of 131 County matches.
Our sympathies go out to her son Mike, daughter's Suzanne and Nikki, her parents (Irene and Albert) and her brother and sisters. Plus all her darting family, many who have been comforting her through her sad illness.
We will post further details when we receive them.

RIP HAZEL BROWN
We were sorry to hear of Hazel's passing recently, for many years she was the very hard working General Secretary of the Kent Darts Organisation, she also regularly represented Kent at many BDO and England Darts meetings, so her families loss will be shared by many people who had the pleasure of spending time with her.
On behalf of her family her son has written "She was a great wife, mum, nan and great nan. She was always there to help and offer support and advice, she was hard working, loving and put others first and a great friend to many people. She loved meatloaf (the band not the food lol). She loved going to our boat on the river Medway for weekends with Colin, Steve, Rob and me.
Darts has lost another lovely lady. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.

RIP TONY SONTAG
We are very sad to learn that former England International, Tony Sontag passed away yesterday. Tony was a London County player who played five ties for England and won four of his matches. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

RIP ERIC BRISTOW
Everyone at England Darts is shocked to hear that former England player, Eric Bristow has passed away today.
Eric played 65 times for England, winning 56 times, he also captained England on many occasions. Our thoughts at this sad time are with his family.

RIP Louise Perry
We are very sad to learn that former England International, Louise Perry has passed away recently. Louise played her County darts for Avon (West of England) and she played twice for England winning one of her matches.

RIP Alma Wright
We were sad to learn that Alma Wright has sadly passed away. Alma was a former secretary of Cumbria and Northumberland and along with her late husband, Norman both worked with the BDO for many years. Alma's sister, Irene and her husband Ken Parker were also both involved with Nottinghamshire and Ken is also a former BDO Director. Our thoughts and best wishes are with all Alma's family and friends.

AUDRIE DERHAM RIP
We have sadly learnt today that former England International Audrie Derham has passed away, aged 83.
Audrie created history when along with Maureen Flowers they became the first ever Ladies World Cup winners in the event held in Edinburgh in 1983.
The picture of Audrie is taken from a YouTube clip where Audrie hit double six to also take the Ladies Pairs title.
Everyone at the England Darts Organisation would like to pass on their condolences to Audrie's family and friends.

Everyone at the England Darts Organisation is absolutely devastated to learn that Julie Vickers lost her battle with cancer earlier today and our thoughts are with her husband Don and their family at this terrible time.
Julie was a valuable part of the EDO team and today we grieve as a family at losing a special lady and a true friend.
As well as being part of the EDO, Julie was also a player and official for her beloved Essex.

RIP Richard Dennis (Devon)
Everyone at the England Darts Organisation passes on their condolences to former England International, Merryl Dennis whose husband Richard sadly passed away on Sunday.
Devon County Secretary, Mo Mortimer paid the following tribute to Richard "Devon County darts and all its members are very sad to report the sudden and unexpected passing of Devon Super League Secretary and County A Player, Richard Dennis, age 54.
Richard played his first match for Devon in 2004 and played a total of 105 matches. He had been our Super League Secretary for several years and had also taken on the role of County Selector.
Richard was a larger than life character who was full of fun. Richard met Merryl, herself a Devon County A Team player, whilst playing darts and they were happily married and had recently taken on the running of a local pub in Tiverton.
Richard's passing will leave a huge hole in Devon that will be hard to fill. The thoughts, love and prayers of everyone from Devon Darts Organisation are with Merryl and Richard's family."

It is with deep regret that the England Darts has to announce that Gerry Haywood has passed away earlier today.
Gerry was a former England International in a very successful playing career with his beloved Yorkshire, however a lot of people will have known Gerry as an ever present at England events since his marriage to EDO Tournament Director Jean Haywood.
Our thoughts are with Jean and all their families at this tragic time.

We were shocked and saddened to hear that Dave Vincent has passed away overnight.
Dave served as an England Selector for several years and also put in a lot of work with his wife Enid at the early EDO events.
He regularly drove around the Country fetching and returning the equipment for England to use at their events, sometimes this would take up a week of his time and showed he was one of the behind the scene stalwarts.
On behalf of all the England players and officials who worked with Dave, we would like to pass on our condolences to Enid and the family at this sad time.

We are sorry to report that Glenys Nancarrow (Cornwall Darts Organisation) passed away yesterday aged 82.
Glenys is pictured proudly receiving the B D O Female Personality of the Year award for officials in 2006 from Trina Gulliver.
Glenys took the position of County Secretary when the County was formed in 1973/74 and it was a post she held for over forty years. In the early days she worked alongside Hugh, her late husband. Hugh was also the Cornwall County Chairman
They ran the Holmbush Inn together in St. Austell and after Hugh's death Glenys continued to run the pub and carried on with her work for the CDO continuing through two cataract operations and did all the work by hand, not owning a computer or even a typewriter.
Her last task was compiling the rooming list for Cornwall's next match away to Yorkshire in January, she was taken ill on Sunday 14th and died on Monday 15th.
In the early days of the BICC Glenys played 15 times for Cornwall and won 10 of those games.
Our thoughts are with all Glenys darting friends and family in Cornwall.

The EDO Directors and players were very sad to learn that Phill Nixon passed away earlier today, our thoughts are with his wife Suzanne and the rest of their family.
Phill was always proud to pull on the England shirt and England were always pleased to have him in the team, Phill played seven times for England in full Internationals, winning on five occasions, he also played three times in representative matches for England.
Phill was one of the great characters in the game and will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Current England International and fellow North East player, Glen Durrant has summed it up this morning with a message on facebook, it reads :

29th June 2012 PETER CONVEY RIP
Sadly we have learned today that former Yorkshire Darts Organisation Chairman, Peter Convey, passed away earlier today after a long illness
Peter had been involved with Yorkshire from the start, firstly as a player and then later on as an official before holding the post of Chairman for many years. Even when his health forced him to retire, he tried not to miss any Yorkshire home matches, gladly sitting on the door and greeting everyone, whether it be someone from Yorkshire or the away team who had known him for many years.
We would like to send our condolences to Peter's family and friends. He may have left us but the memories stay with us.

We were very sorry to hear today that John Speed has passed away after suffering a short illness on December 7th
John was a Nottinghamshire County player and his wife Dawn is one of the England Selectors.
Our thoughts are with Dawn and all the family at this tragic time.
2nd July 2011 - Mick Banyard
We are very sorry to learn that former England International Mick Banyard (Cambridgeshire) has recently passed away aged 66 after suffering a stroke.
Mick played twice for England winning once in the late 1970's, our thoughts are with his family and friends.
17th May 2011 - Milton Anderson
It is my sad duty to announce the death of Milton Anderson, Milton had a massive stroke at the County match last weekend against Cumbria. On behalf of England Darts I send our sincere condolences to Milton's wife Annette, his family, friends and all the players and officials of Tyne & Wear. Milton will be sorely missed not only in the North East but by all who knew him. I am absolutely gutted at the news, as many of you know Milton & Annette used to sit together with Lesley and myself at the BDO Meetings.

It is with great sadness that Lancashire announce the death of their Men's Team
Manager, Frank Smith. Frank had been on the Lancashire Executive for over 30
years and everyone is absolutely devastated by his sudden death. Our sincere
condolences to his family and friends.

We are very sorry to announce that Pauline Stafford has passed away earlier today, following a long illness.
Pauline was a current England Selector as well as the long time Secretary of Cheshire and just last weekend was awarded the BDO Ladies Official Personality of the Year Award.
On behalf of the England Darts Organisation we would like to pass on our condolences to Pauline's family.
Her pain and suffering is over and she leaves behind many happy memories for all those who knew her.

Obituary - Mick Getty
We are very sad to hear that Mick Getty passed away earlier today, after a long illness.
Mick was 65 and was a former England Selector. He had worked for the BDO for over 25 years and was the current Premier Division Group Director.
Mick had been involved with darts all his life and was a founder member of his native Merseyside, where he was Honorary President. He was also the President of Glamorgan, where his wife, Sue is the County Secretary.
